The MiraFiber® Manufacturing Process Simply Explained

MiraFiber Technology explained

MiraFiber Scoops dirt, grease & grime

Ordinary Cloth Fiber tends to simply push dirt and dust. Residue is left behind on the surface you are cleaning.

Lack of interior spaces makes ordinary cloth hold very little dirt or moisture.

MiraFiber® Technology
has open spaces between fibers that act as millions of tiny 'scoops' that pull dust, dirt, oil & other contaminants into the cloth and hold them until washed away with mild soap or detergent. (Can also be bleached for disinfection.)

Results are spotless, streak free surfaces. Water simply acts as a 'lubricant' which helps emulsify dirt & oil making it easier for the MiraFiber® technology to pick the dirt, grease & grime from your surfaces.

Spaces also allow large amounts of moisture to be collected into the cloths making them very absorbent in quickly picking up spills. It also allows for quicker drying time eliminating much of the bacterial growth found in slow drying cloths.

Competition

There is none. No, really, we're serious... but if you want us to address those who think they are our competition, we will.

They would fall into three categories:

  • Those who sell 'seconds' of our technology and don't tell you they're selling seconds. They also cannot say their product is patented as that would really upset the manufacturer that holds the patent. You will never know if the cloths you receive from these sellers will be thick, thin... or fragile in the long run. If you really want any of these cloths, we have about 12,000 of them stored in our warehouse that someone sold us before we had an exclusive with the manufacturer for the 1st quality goods.Though I'm doubtful you would want them as some are so thin, you could practically read through them!
  • 'Look-a-likes'... these mainly come from China and can look very similar. Just wait until you start using them and you'll know they are not the same technology. And finally the big one...
  • Microfiber products. Absolutely no competition, but this one has confused consumers so much that we have dedicated the following sections to it. Please read on.

How does MiraFiber® compare with the Microfiber cleaning products on the market today

There seems to be some confusion regarding consumers thinking MiraFiber® is the same as the microfibers on the market today. Because of this, we feel it's important to address this issue with some detail.

In essence, MiraFiber® is not a microfiber… the only attribute these two technologies have in common is that the fibers or filaments that comprise their individual composition are split thinner than any other man-made or natural fiber. Even with this similarity, MiraFiber's filaments are split 5 - 10 times thinner than the fibers in a microfiber product or technology.

The fact of the matter is that comparing the two would be like comparing the technology we had available to listen to music in the early 80’s to the technology we have available today.

In the 80’s, vinyl records were still being used, but cassette tapes were considered advanced, high-end technology. Today, current, high-end technology would be CD’s and MP3 players.

Could we still listen to our records and tapes today? Sure, but why would we when the technology we have available to us is more convenient, more economical, has better sound quality and is more durable.

The timeframes and the advances in technology used in the above example run parallel to the progression of the Microfiber and MiraFiber® technologies.

Microfiber has been around since the early 80’s and was considered a high-end technological advance in what its unique attributes offered the cleaning industry for the time. Today, the advanced, patented MiraFiber® technology not only improves on these attributes, but also adds benefits not previously found in the old microfibers.

Can you still use old microfiber technologies to clean with?

Sure, but why would you when the technology has significantly advanced through a unique, worldwide patented process to produce a cleaning cloth that is more simple, effective and durable than it’s predecessors?

MiraFiber's exclusive, patented manufacturing process produces the most effective eco-friendly cleaning product available on the market today making microfiber products obsolete in most cleaning applications. Consider the following charts.

* Prior to the patented process used in producing MiraFiber®, the long continuous filaments used to make microfibers could not be adequately or uniformly blended as they were too long and difficult to handle and could not produce a consistent fabric. Therefore, they had to be cut into short fibers approx 1.5 – 3.5” in length and CHEMICALLY bonded to form what is called staple fibers.

On the other hand, the continuous filaments used in the MiraFiber®technology do NOT have to be cut. Through the patented manufacturing process, MiraFiber®technology is produced by ‘hydro-entangling’ these virtually endless filaments through high pressured water jets.

At first glance, these differences may not seem like much, but the reality is that they add up to a lighter - weight, stronger, safer, more absorbent, more effective cleaning product than any microfiber on the market. Did we mention… longest wearing and totally non-linting?

** MiraFiber® filaments are 8 – 10 times (!) finer than microfibers which assures total safety for cleaning delicate surfaces such as flat panel computer monitors, eyeglasses & plasma TV screens. No chemicals to mar or blur the surface… and no stitching or harsh fibers to scratch!

In addition, these extremely fine filaments, once entangled, create millions of little ‘scoops’ which provides for greater absorption and wickability of surfaces. With water only – Ultimate Cloth cloths easily and efficiently lift and entrap dust, dirt, grease, grime, liquids and other contaminants and are incapable of leaving lint or fiber particles behind.

The minimal amount of moisture left behind evaporates immediately creating a ONE STEP cleaning process. You will never have to go back in a second step to dry or re-wipe the surface as with microfibers. EVER!

Cleaning with water only - no chemicals – surfaces are left immaculate with a streak free, spot free, lint and dust free finish every time.

Ultimate Cloths have outstanding performance records in household cleaning and demanding industrial environments.

They are safe and effective on any surface in homes, businesses, vehicles, motorcycles, boats, & RVs… including, but not limited to glass, mirrors, windshields, countertops, appliances, floors, electronics, stainless steel, ceramic floors, black and glass top appliances, Corian, marble, granite, all hardwoods, laminates, ceramic tile floors, leather, any painted surface, chrome, Lexan, Eisenglass, eyeglasses, plasma TV screens, computer monitors, camera lenses, I Pods...  Get the picture?

* Before we go further – and we’re almost done - please understand that the term 'microfiber' is a broad, loose term. It simply implies that it is a thin fiber, which is anything under 1 denier in thickness – microfibers are generally .8 – 1 denier. After that - as they say… all bets are off because there are many variables such as:

  • What the synthetic fibers are in a particular fabric. - i.e. are they polyester, rayon, nylon,  etc.
  • What the percentages of the specific fibers are - i.e. are they 10% polyester/90% polyamide; or 30% polyester / 70% polyamide; and then, again, maybe 10% nylon/90% polyester? AND...
  • How are they put together? Sewn, woven, spun, etc.
  • What are they treated or ‘finished’ with to create everything from greater absorption to actual water resistance.

All of these variables combine to produce a wide range of products with high variables in quality, consistency, longevity and effectiveness. It’s hard for the average consumer to differentiate between a ‘good microfiber’ and a ‘poor grade’ one. Personally, I’ve purchased a microfiber dish drying towel from a major discount retail store that wouldn’t even take the moisture off the dishes!

In addition, multiple types (variations) of microfibers are sold to consumers depending on the surface you’re cleaning. i.e. one for delicate surfaces; a different type for stainless steel; and then yet another for your mirrors, windows, and windshields, etc. Many are sold to work with an additional chemical cleaner. Do you really want to try to figure out which cloth / towel you are supposed to use on each surface whenever you have a cleaning job?

In contrast, Cleaning Cloths made from the MiraFiber® technology  -  .15 denier in thickness - are always made from the same fibers, in the same percentages, in the same process to provide the same consistent exceptional results using water only - every time. Period.

Due to the technology’s ‘tough & tender’ aspect, the same cloth is appropriate, safe and effective on all surfaces: from the super delicate ones such as plasma TV screens in the homes to the toughest ones, such as removing tar and break dust on vehicles.

** Independent lab tests have proven that when the MiraFiber® technology is used properly, it can pull up to up to 96% of bacteria off surfaces. Customers appreciate the fact that they can bleach the cloth to disinfect it from time to time without damaging the cloth or decreasing its longevity. On the other hand, due to the short, bonded fibers breaking down through the chemical action, microfibers are generally not bleachable and when they are, no guarantees can be given for longevity or durability.

Sizes and weights of MiraFiber® cleaning/wiping cloths

MiraFiber® cleaning/wiping cloths can be made from 4 different weights and cut to any size, depending on the application.

    • 80/100 gsm - too lightweight to handle most cleaning jobs. Low absorption of liquids and would need to be rinsed/washed more often. These weights could be applicable for semi-disposables or small electronics and eyewear
    • 130 gsm - perfect weight for most cleaning applications.
    • 170 gsm - too heavy for standard households. High absorption; but more difficult to wring out appropriately. This weight could be applicable for heavy jobs such as car washes, etc.

MiraFiber® Care:

Machine wash with laundry detergent or hand wash with dish soap in warm water. Rinse thoroughly. Can use bleach! Do not use fabric softener as it will leave a film on the cloth. When machine washing - best if not washed with towels as the cloths will pick up the lint and transfer back to your surfaces. Unlike microfibers, this cloth can be dried in a dryer; however, due to possible lint that may be left behind from previous loads, air drying is best when possible.
